The Controller is responsible for overseeing the day to day accounting functions of the business to maintain efficiency, ensure timely and accurate reporting, and perform financial analysis to guide business decisions. An integral part of this role will be working with payment processors, banks, and payroll partners to ensure any discrepancies with operational activity are resolved as quickly as possible. This role is responsible for continuous improvements to processes and controls, identifying opportunities to improve ZayZoon’s app and integration with the ERP system. The Controller is also accountable for ensuring new coding development activity in the ZayZoon app provides adequate measures to provide data necessary for compliance with IFRS accounting standards.

· Coaching and mentoring a Bookkeeper

· Development and refinement of new and existing financial processes, policies, and procedures

· Assist with design and implementation of new ERP system

· Data import and integrity review for advance and repayment activity including reconciliations of accounts

· Act as key contact with partners to reconcile or resolve any differences in operational activity

· Prepare budget and cash forecasting, providing recommendations to the leadership team

· Prepare accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis on a monthly basis, preparing various ad hoc reporting as required

· Act as key contact to maintain all banking relationships and other treasury functions

· Perform monthly variance analysis, reviewing and preparing all necessary month-end journal entries and accruals

· Assist in evaluation of pricing models and structures as well as cost management for new and existing products

· Oversee all day to day accounting functions including but not limited to payroll and benefits administration, and accounting administrative functions

· Act as key contact for coordination of year-end audit engagement with external auditors

· Oversee and assist in preparation of year-end supporting documentation and schedules including calculations for ECL,  deferred tax, and accretion

Minimum Education and Experience

· CPA with experience in IFRS required

· Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience (with direct supports)

· Computer savvy self starter with an ability to learn new tools quickly – you aren’t afraid to dig deep into a new feature or tool on your own

· Advanced Excel Skills – Comfortable in functions required to create and work with pivot tables, look up and match  functions

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to lead effective meetings


· You had experience in financial technology, banking, or similar industry

· You had experience in a start-up company or participated in scaling up a small company

· You had experience completing a software or accounting system implementation

· You had written communication skills in a second language (Spanish/French preferred)
